Power Outage

This past Thursday, we had a power outage. Earlier in the day around 4:30 the power flickered off and then back on, my family and I thought nothing of it. But around 6:30 the power went out and didn't come back on, I was in my room and I thought someone in my family and was playing a joke on me, by turning the lights off, so I yelled "Not Funny!" Then I looked out of my window and my neighbors power was out too. So I turned my flashlight from my iPod on, and set out to find my family. I found my family in the kitchen, they all had flashlights by the time I found them. And then we heard a knock on the door...it was our neighbor. So, we opened the door and let her in and she sat down and said "Well, guess you all better have some stories." So we sat and talked and as she told us about her life, I found out that she has lived a rough life. She has had to deal with many hardships...alone. She ended up staying and talking until about 10:00. We had an event that we had to plan activities for, so my dad and my brother went to get us dinner. Around 12:00 the power came on and we were so grateful....for those five minutes of power, and then it cut out. It was like this for the rest of the night. At 5:43 the power finally stayed on. I think God made the power outage happen for us to actually get to know our neighbor. It just goes to show you don't know a person, until you actually take the time to get to know them.

Hope you enjoyed this blog post.
